Can your dachshund help another dachshund out there?
I am in the later stages of writing a very thorough, 500+ page book about dachshunds which I intend to have published next year (2010).  While the book contains photos, x-rays, and drawings to show many issues that affect the breed, I am still lacking photos of dachshunds with a few, specific medical disorders.  It is my goal to include 'every' problem an owner, breeder, or veterinarian could come across in the hope it can help someone else who has a dachsie with the same condition who may not realize it or who may not realize it in time to treat it effectively.
Maybe you have a dachshund that has had one of these disorders?  If so, sharing it with others could be of great help.  The following are the disorders listed in the book that still lack photos (or x-ray photos) and accompanying short stories:

photo submissions
If your dachshund has or has had one of these disorders, and if you have taken photos or photos of x-rays of him or her, and if you would like one or more of those photos to be included in my book or similar presentation, please send an e-mail to with the photo(s) attached in jpe/jpeg/jpg format.  Please send photos only of the highest original resolution/size/clarity possible.  For each photo, please include the following information in the e-mail:
- the dachshund's name
- the name of the dachshund's owner / your name
- the approximate date the picture was taken
- the approximate age of the dachshund
- the brief story of your dachshund having the disorder (vet diagnosis, timeline of progression, any treatments, recovery (if applicable), etc.)
If there are any people in the photo(s) whose faces are plainly seen and are part of the main subject matter, unless I crop them out of the photo(s), I will also need:  a) their name(s) and b) permission from them to use the photo(s) and their name(s).

***I must also require, in the body of any e-mail submission I receive, the following text from you:***
"I, [your first and last name here], copyright owner of the picture(s) I am submitting via e-mail at pics@eridox.com, am 18 years of age or older and hereby give Lisa Emerson the irrevocable right to use, reproduce, and publish the photo(s) without restriction, edited or unedited, without payment or any other consideration other than named credit. I hereby agree that Lisa Emerson is not responsible for determining the copyright status of the photo(s) or for securing copyright permission."

Please understand that I will not be able to use your photo(s) if I do not receive this text from you in the same e-mail(s) as the photo(s) you send.

please note
If you do not own a photo(s) you would like to send to me, please do not send it to me, as I will not be able to accept it.  If you know of someone who has a good picture you think should be submitted, you can ask them to submit it themselves (and it would be great if you would do that!).
I cannot guarantee your photo(s) will be used in my book, so please do not be offended if you don't see it in there.  I assure you I appreciate any photo you send me.
Because of time issues, I will probably not be able to respond to all the e-mails of photos I receive, but I would like to thank everyone ahead of time for sending them!
I can't pay you for the photos you send me, because if I were to receive as many photos as I would like, I would go very broke very quickly. ;)
I will give appropriate credit for all photos I use, and I will make every attempt to run the rough draft by you before publication (but I can't guarantee I can).
The photo editing I may need to do can consist of:  cropping, color correction, changing/fixing of minor or major details (such as removing a table leg or an artifact or editing out tear stains, a stray piece of whatnot, things of that nature that may otherwise take away from what is trying to be shown in the photo), changing the color and/or pattern of the background/non-main-subject-matter, blurring of the background/non-main-subject-matter, removal of any or all of the background/non-main-subject-matter, and/or combining the picture or main-subject-matter with one or more other pictures or main-subject-matters.

Thanks!!!
